Greyscale displays were initially used for control and diagnosis systems. We implemented the first color display in the Siemens Eurosprinter and Bombardier BR101.

ETCS ARM-based 8.4 inch double display

This display system with two 8.4 inch TFT-LCDs makes it possible to represent the ETCS surface on two seperate functional safe screens.

If a subsystem fails, the remaining detects the fault and allows to complete the mission.

PC-compatible 12.1 inch display

The CCTV visualisation system is based on a x86 64bit quad core CPU to process complex data.

The combination with a 12.1 inch display allows to present multiple network video streams.

PC-compatible 15 inch display

The CCTV visualisation system is based on a x86 64bit quad core CPU to process complex data.

The combination with a 15 inch display allows to present multiple network video streams.

BHDU121: ARM-based 12.1 inch display

This display system with a 12.1 inch TFT-LCD is designed for use in rail vehicles. It is used to visualize process and diagnostic data and for control command inputs.

BHDU109: PC-compatible 6.5 inch display

The CaViS109 visualisation system is based on a x86 processor, which provides a native ISA bus.

This allows the usage of existing PC104 components.

The system itself implements a VT100 emulation using different serial interfaces to the vehicle side.


CaViS60: Split mode 8.4 inch or 10.4 inch display unit

The CaViS60 system consists of the BHPC60 control unit and the BHDU60 display unit. The CaViS60 system was designed for SIL2 requirements. The BHPC60 is based on a PC compatible Intel system architecture and contains all common bus systems for a utilisation in rail vehicles.

The control unit is integrated into a 19" rack. Communication to the BHDU60 display unit is realised via a “Gigastar” interface.

Control unit and display unit can also be operated as “compact device" (1 device). An integrated supervisor element monitors and controls several functions: Brightness, watchdog, operating hours, temperature, warning light, acoustic alarms, etc.

Video-Solutions

BHVD5: PC-compatible 12.1 inch display, SAW touch

The BHVD 5 is a video-capable display unit based on a PC-compatible processor with Intel
architecture, and can be controlled via a touch screen and features 2 analogue video camera
interfaces.

The mechanical and electronic design is suitable for the harsh environmental conditions on rail vehicles.

The BHVD 5 is designed for SIL2 requirements.


BHVD401: Analog 8.4 inch video display

The BHVD 401 video display unit constitutes a monitoring system together with up to two PAL analogue video cameras. The video picture on the display can be shown as a single or split-screen image, The BHVD401 also provides the power supply for the camera heating.

Selection and fine adjustment of the individual image sections is carried out on a control panel on the front of the housing. The BHVD401 firmware can be updated over a Web interface.

Application example:

BHVD401 reverse view system together with one BHKL10 left camera and one BHKR10 right camera to monitor the areas to the left and right of a rail vehicle when reversing.


BHKS20: Analog Video Crossbar Switch

The BHKS20 video crossbar switch serves as a monitoring system together with up to 4 PAL analogue video cameras and up to two display units. The video picture on the display can be shown as a single or split-screen image, selected on the display interfaces. The BHKS20 also provides the power supply for the camera heating.

Fine adjustment of the individual image sections is carried out on a control panel on the front of the housing. The control panel is protected by a cover during normal operation.

Application example:

Monitoring system for a rail vehicle, consisting of one BHKS20 video crossbar switch, two BHKL20 left cameras and two BHKR10 right cameras. One camera pair faces forwards and one backwards to monitor the front and rear areas outside the vehicle.


BHNC3: Network camera with analog interface

The camera BHNC3 is designed for professional monitoring activities and rear view mirror applications.

The configurable active image area of the image sensor (region of interest) allows subsequent adjustment of the camera.

Configuration of camera can be customized over ethernet interface.

Systems

CaViS4

The CaViS4 system is used to control and monitor the most modern locomotives and control cars. Diesel and multi system locomotives can be fitted with this system. Transnational and system changing railways can therefore be served.

The CaViS4 system comprises 2 BHPC4 control units, an I/O module, a filter unit, an input impedance unit and 4 BHVD4 display units. The system can be upgraded with 4 analogue exterior cameras from the BHKRx and BHKLx series.All units are integrated in a 19 inch rack. Communication to the BHVD4 display unit is realised via a ethernet interface.

An integrated supervisor element monitors and controls several functions: Brightness, watchdog, operating hours, temperature, warning light, acoustic alarms, etc.


ETCS Simulator: Portable Simulator / Recorder / Track validator for ETCS

ETCS Simulator is a portable solution for the service directly on the vehicle. All necessary components are embedded (OBU, DMI, Track simulator, vigilance control, traction switch).

BH-RailControl: SIL4 On Board Unit

The RailControl system provides a powerful, flexible and customizable environment for controlling complex transportation systems. It is designed and assessed according to the IEC61508 and EN50126/8/9 standards for safety critical applications up to SIL4. To realize special safety functions having SIL4,
you can use parts of the control system in homogeneous redundancy. Non-SIL and SIL 0 functions of the application can be easily developed beside the SIL>0 functions of the application.

Flexibility:

A control system realized with RailControl consists mainly of binary and analog inputs / outputs (IO modules). These IO modules can be grouped into segments (each segment has a power supply module and at least one backplane module), which itself can be arbitrarily placed. The connection between the segments can be realized e.g. by a simple Ethernet communication line.
So the system architecture of your control system can be used as a centralized control system or as a decentralized/distributed system. The smallest possible control system (segment) consists of one power supply module, a backplane module and one (configurable) IO module. Customization:
The control system is available for 3U rack and DIN rail mounting (both formats can be used in a system). The partitioning of the segments is completely up to the customer – there are virtually no limits.

A RailControl control system can be constructed from the above RailControl modules, which are combined to a number of RailControl segments, where the RailControl segments are connected using a safe Ethernet communication.

Network

BHMS1: Managed Ethernet switch

The BHMS1 assembly is designed as “Managed Switch” with Power over Ethernet (PoE). It may also be used as a standard Ethernet switch. By implementing the Spanning Tree Protocol this assembly can manage redundant connection so that these
redundant transmission lines can be used when the primary transmission line fails.

Thanks to the extensive management function several transfer lines can be linked or low latency times can be achieved by using Quality
of Service. Similar effects can be achieved by configuring the maximum transfer speeds.

BHVR4: Network Attached Storage

The BHVR 4 assembly is a network mass storage system. Network mass storage systems are also known as Network Attached Storage (NAS).

The data is stored in configurable RAID arrays (Redundant Array of Independent Disks). The RAID levels 0, 1, 5 und Linear are supported.

Reading and writing data can be achieved by using NFS or FTP, other interfaces are possible.

BHUSB: USB Mass Storage

BHUSB-x is a rugged USB flash drive with an aluminium case and M12 connector.


BHSATA: SATA Mass Storage

BHSATA is a rugged SATA flash drive with an aluminum case and a M12 connector.

Besides the use as storage device for a operating system, the BHSATA is also suitable for the storage of diagnosis data.

Electrical infrastructure

BHACB1-AC: Circuit breaker for AC

The BHACB1-AC module consists of 3 independent automatic circuit breakers. Each fuse can be configured to any AC current value between 0,5A and 8A. Additionally, the characteristic curve can be set in 5 stages.

The module is designed to be connected to a network via the BHEG1 Ethernet Gateway.

When the BHACB1-AC module is connected to the Ethernet Gateway, a graphical user interface assists in configuring the fuses.


BHACB1-DC: Circuit breaker for DC

The module is designed to be connected to a network via the BHEG1 Ethernet Gateway.

When the BHACB1-DC module is connected to the Ethernet Gateway, a graphical user interface assists in configuring the fuses.


BHEG1: Ethernet gateway for circuit breaker

The BHEG1 is an Ethernet to RS485 Gateway. It is designed to connect different modules such as the BHACB1-DC/AC “Intelligent Fuses” to a network. The connected devices can be configured and controlled via a Web interface or a command line terminal. The network settings can either be adjusted via the integrated operator panel (4 button keyboard and O-LED display) at the front of the device, or via the web interface.
